Caledonian Scholars and Associates Initiative

The Caledonian Scholars and Associates Initiative has been designed to contribute to a distributive leadership model to encourage development and innovation in learning and teaching across the University. It also supports Continuing Professional Development in Learning and Teaching as detailed in the CPD Policy (2008).

Taking a leadership role in learning and teaching as either a Scholar for 2 years or an Associate for 1 year will contribute to the enhancement of teaching and learning within the University and the quality of the student experience. It will also help you to gather evidence towards the criteria for promotion within GCU through the teaching route.

As well as personal benefits, the initiative provides valuable opportunities to engage with like-minded staff from across GCU. There are also wider benefits to students, Divisions, Schools, Support Departments and the University in taking forward innovation in learning and teaching through this distributive leadership approach. Details of the University's priorities for learning and teaching can be found in the Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy (LTAS 2008-2015)

A call for Scholars and Associates applications will normally be made in September, with the possibility of an additional call later in the academic year.
