Alison Nimmo
Alison Nimmo is a Senior lecturer in the Caledonian Academy at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU). She has particular responsibility for policy, practice and curriculum development in the area of professional activities and CPD for academic staff. She is currently Programme Director for the university’s Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PgC LTHE) which provides teaching staff with a route to gaining eligibility to become a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). Alison was previously responsible for the co-ordination of all staff development for academic staff offered through Academic Practice.
Alison has extensive experience is the design, development and delivery of a range of work based learning programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She developed the University’s Undergraduate Learning Contract Framework and associated assessment and procedural regulations and was responsible for introducing an innovative work based ‘top up’ degree for direct entrants which continues to run within the Scottish Centre for Work Based Learning at the university.
Alison sits on a number of university boards and working groups in areas related to the learning and teaching agenda. She is currently actively involved in the design and development of a new CPD Framework which will offer opportunities for staff to work in partnership with the Caledonian Academy to gain support and/or accreditation of their action research projects. Alison is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of AMBA.
