Elena is a PhD candidate at the Caledonian Academy. She is originally from Yekaterinburg in Russia. Having completed her undergraduate studies in Linguistics at the Ural State Pedagogical University, Elena decided to undertake further studies in the UK. In 2009 Elena graduated from the University of Edinburgh with MSc in Management of Training and Development.

Projects

Elena is working on the project in the area of Employability of doctoral researchers. She is looking at the ways of enhancing employability of doctoral researchers through formal and informal learning. It is a joint project co-supervised by three centres: Caledonian Academy, Centre for Research in Lifelong Learning and Graduate School at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Research interests

Her research interests include employability, doctoral education, researcher development, graduate attributes, informal learning, training and facilitation, internationalisation, learning environments, knowledge creation and management.

Besides from her research work, Elena is involved in representing views of research students. She is a research students’ convenor for the university, and represents students’ interest at various university committees.
In her free time, Elena enjoys discovering new things and places, reading, blogging, crafting, travelling, playing volleyball, swimming and volunteering.
