Enhancing Progression through Partnership

The Moving Forward Initiative : enhancing progression through partnership was an initiative which represented a coordinated institutional strategy for transition and progression and evidence based practice. The project commenced in October 2007 and was completed in September 2011. It was coordinated by the Centre for Research in Lifelong Learning and centred on partnership working between the six academic schools, the Caledonian Academy, Learner Support, the Students' Association, Marketing and Communications and Academic Registry. This development still forms the basis of GCU's Strategic Plan for the Scottish Funding Council's (SFC) Widening Access and Retention Premium (WARP) allocation and will be used to support the implementation of GCU's new Widening Participation Strategy.

Moving Forward aims were to:

  • Improve progression rates
  • Enhance the student experience in terms of transition to GCU
  • Greater support for staff in developing and implementing strategies to address issues associated with transition and progression.

Moving Forward's central aim was to develop, implement and evaluate a GCU Transition and Progression Framework, which has centred on evidence based practice and partnership working across the University.
